During the pre-season it's not just the players who need to get into shape for the first game.
We are keen to help clubs organise an action day where members, supporters, friends and family can turn up and collectively work on renovations and improvements to current club facilities.
Successful clubs have strong footings because of their volunteers, players, supporters and their facilities. If we can help clubs to progress and thrive then we are succeeding.
This initiative can create a focal point that brings all those resources together to improve their existing rugby league provision. Organising and promoting a ´volunteers day´ creates an affordable workforce whose pride in their club will be further enhanced having donated their time.
On this site you'll find easily downloadable step-by-step guides to help you organise an engage with your club day. Our 'action pack' will take you through everything from your objective setting to managing teams of volunteers on the day.
There are also promotional tips to get as many people to come along as possible including a template press release for your club website, a guide to promote the day via facebook, and posters to be printed off for your club house.
As some clubs already organise a similar volunteers day we'd like to help maximise the opportunity and build on what they are already achieving.
Community clubs were invited to register so we can promote their involvement and generate greater awareness of the initiative to other. We are keen to create a focal point for the entire sport.
Registration is now closed although you can still run your 'engage with your club' as there is still access to the action pack which included all the separate step-by-be guides.
For all clubs that have been registered there was the opportunity to apply for a club makeover worth up to £5000. Two successful applicants have been chosen and the makeovers will take place on the action weekends of 6th/7th and 13th/14th August. The deadline for these applications was Wednesday 6th July 2011.
